Here is our recent weekend project that will certainly add value to our home and update it as well. It really was a quick and easy job and the results were fantastic! Let me take you through the steps. First you will need to wash down the bricks with plain soap and water. I used just a bit of dishwashing liquid mixed in a bowl of water. Let dry and then begin the job of taping all around the edges and anywhere that you don't want to get paint. We were not sure what to do with the mantel and wanted to take a look at the options before we proceeded. So, first we covered the mantel. Then we decided we preferred the mantel white, and painted that as well. After taping, we applied the primer coat, which is a very important step. Primer ensures better adhesion of paint to the surface, increases paint durability. and will even out the base color for a better looking topcoat. We used Sherwin-Williams PrepRite Pro Block. We let the primer dry overnight, then we painted on the topcoat the next day.We used HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams acrylic latex exterior satin. Let dry, then peel off the tape and take a look at your beautiful trendy new fireplace. We love ours!!
